In addition interest groups also seek to influence the way that laws and policies are written and enforced by lobbying or attempting to convince politicians that they have good ideas usually with potential future election support if the politician will support policies supported by the interest group.

Lobbying: Interests groups normally hire or use one of their members as representatives of the whole group. This person gets in contact with policy makers such as a congress members or government agents to talk and persuade or dissuade them of making a policy change.

Mobilization of the masses: Interests groups are sometimes the force behind a mass demonstration of support or rejection of a policy that the congress is about to pass. They organize the people that agree with their interests and they use the march or any form of public demonstration as a way of influencing the policy makers.

Engagement with elections: Interests groups sometimes give their full support to a candidate that will advocate for the group's objectives. They make fundraising events for the candidate or they can even donate money from their own budget to the candidate's campaign.
