You are downloading a song. The percent y (in decimal form) of megabytes remaining to download after x seconds is; y=-0.1x+1. If the equation is; y=-0.1x+1, then how many seconds doe's it take for the download to be 50% complete?
Any opinions help. :)

Sagot :

y = -0.1x+1
0.5 = -0.1x+1
-0.5 = -0.1x
x = 5
It takes 5 seconds for the download to be 50% complete.

Given :
y = -0.1x + 1
where,
y = percentage,
x = time in seconds
Now, substituting the values from the question into the equation, we get,
         50% = -0.1x +1
      .50 - 1 = -0.1x
          -.50 = -0.1x
-.50 / (-0.1) = x
              5 = x
              x = 5
So, the time taken to download 50% of the song is 5 seconds
