Please can you give me some facts on percentages other than how to work them out???

Sagot :

Say your test is out of 100 and you 75 correct to calculate your percent you would go

75/100*100

/ = Divide
* = Times
percent means parts per hundred.

3% means 3 parts out of 100 parts

obviously decimals and percentages are similar (percentages are just 100 times larger)

to convert a fraction to a decimal, one may do long division or convert the faction to having a denominator of 100

ex) 3/5 100 is 20 times larger than five, so multiply the numerator and denominator by 20 and get 60/100 which is 60 parts per 100 or 60%

this can also be done with 1/6 and other fractions, but it is harder because you have to know how many times larger 100 is which can sometimes defeat the purpose. For 1/6 it is 16.6666666 times larger than 6, so 16.66666666/100 or 16.6666666%

If one has a repeating decimal such as .546 repeating and they wish to convert it to a fraction, all they have to do is divide it by the same number of nines as there are repeating digits. 546/999 is .546 repeating and it reduces to 183/333

if the repeating decimal starts with non-repeating decimals, break it apart into a non-repeating decimal added to a repeating decimal.

.2345345345345345... = .2+ (.345 repeating)/10

= 1/5 + 345/9990
simplify with common denominator
=781/3330

I'm sorry that I couldn't be more helpful, but I thought some random percent knowledge would be better than nothing.
