I believe that this is true. Although often factory workers do long shifts, some of this is against the law, as there is a limit of hours paid hours that people are able to work in a week- this varies from country to country. Wages are usually the minimum wage, or below, again, something that varies in each country and by age. Some people work in factories as this is all the work they can find, and they need the money to support themselves.working conditions in factories, especially between the 19th and 20th century were notoriously dreadful. Often, machines were not tested, and generally, the conditions were not good. However, some conditions are getting better since the introduction of health and after laws, but it is still common for some factories not to comply with the laws.
