If you are looking at a graph then, the y intercept is the only point on the y axis. To find the slope on a graph you have to count how much the point rises and moves from each point. Like, if my point was (1,3) and the next point was (3,4). To get to (3,4) you would have to go up 1 and move 3 spaces to the right. Your slope would be 1/3.
