They meet on the ship through the most unusual circumstances and fall in love. Will their class differences, both in life and on the ship, keep them apart? What happens to these two people when the ship hits an iceberg?
My promotional message is designed to make people curious, not so much about the fate of the ship, but about the fate of the two lead characters. The Titanic is based on the real-life incident of this ship that sank on its maiden voyage in 1912. Because this is general knowledge, in the minds of the audience there is no mystery about what will happen to the ship. The drama about the sinking of the ship takes up a large part of the movie, but this is only the background to the love story in the movie.
Actors Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, who play the lead characters in the movie, were not well known before this movie released in 1997. Mentioning them in the promotional message would not have helped because audiences did not know who they were at the time. James Cameron, the director, however, had already created many blockbusters before he took on this work.
