The Texas annexation was the 1845 annexation of the Republic of Texas into the United States of America, which was admitted to the Union as the 28th state on December 29, 1845. The Republic of Texas declared independence from the Republic of Mexico on March 2, 1836.  and also it was rejected because  The Texas minister to Washington proposed annexation to President Martin Van Buren in August 1837. The administration rejected the proposal, fearing reprisal from Mexico and the controversy that would follow the addition of another slave state.
