how is vegetarianism good for the environment?
Livestock produces large amounts of greenhouse gases, mainly methane. These gases are causes of global warming to the greenhouse gas effect in which they are trapped in the earth's atmosphere and heat the surface. Vegetarianism would reduce the need for the copious amount of livestock present and the excess production of menthane as well as other harmful gases. Livestock also takes up a lot of land due to their feeding needs resulting in a large percent of food grown in the US not being for human consumption but rather for the livestock themselves. This can also lead to the release of more greenhouse gases due to the combustion within machines used for farming like tractors.
