Now, I can take one of these equations and insert it in the opposite equation and solve for a variable.

4(-24 - 4y) - 2y = -6

-96 -16y -2y = -6

-18y = 90

y = -5

Now, I can just insert this in one of my equations and solve for x, and get my solution, which gets me x = -4
