How I do think Dr. Carter G. Woodson's views of African American life might have differed from those of Marcus Garvey is he believed that African Americans should know their past in order to participate intelligently in the affairs in our country. He also strongly believed that Black history which others have tried so diligently to erase is a firm foundation for young African Americans to build on in order to become productive citizens of our society. While Marcus Garvey believed that African Americans should go and live in Africa and in the principle of Europe for the Europeans, and Asia for the Asiatics and Africa for the Africans at home and abroad. Garvey doubted whether whites in the United States would ever agree to African Americans being treated as equals and argued for segregation rather than integration.
Marcus Garvey is a Black-American from Jamaican race said African-Americans should go and live in Africa because he believed they can never succeed among the Native-Americans.
