You are the president of the United States. You are at war with a tough, determined foe that refuses to surrender and will gladly fight to the death. Your top generals present you with 2 options to end this war:


Option A:
War continues for another 1-2 YEARS - Invade your enemies' country. However, and estimated 1-3 hundred thousand of your soldiers will probably die, another 100,000 - 200,000 will be injured/maimed for life. Your economy will suffer greatly as well. It is estimated that Japan still had 4 million soldiers ready to fight and die because surrender is against their culture and law.

Option B:
War will be over in LESS THAN 6 MONTHS - The use of conventional warfare has not forced your enemy to surrender despite their high casualties. Use a new atomic weapon on your enemy that will probably kill over 200,000 innocent civilians. Another 100,000 or more may die from the radiation fallout. The scientists that created this weapon have urged you to NOT use it. Using the bomb will likely shock the enemy and force them to surrender and mark the end of a horrendous global conflict and the effective demonstration of the weapon will deter others from using it in the future.
