Viruses are considered to be the simplest form of life. The term virus is latin word which means Poison. These are extraordinary tiny particles and some of them can not be seen even under the electronic microscope. These are considered as a connecting link between living and non-living and lie on the border of living and nonliving things.
These are composed of small number of macromolecules i.e. DNA or RNA and Proteins, sometimes glycoprotein and lipoproteins are also present. Viruses are Obligate parasite i.e. they totally depends on the host. They can infect and parasitize all forms of life including bacteria. Following are the character of Virus,
