This economic system is characterized by a high-
level of government involvement. Workers had no
or little choice over what jobs they wanted to
work; they were assigned jobs by the government
which controlled nearly every aspect of the
economy. There is no competition between
producers; there is no incentive for workers to do
a better job for better pay. Often times there are
severe shortages and products are often very low
quality
