If he is a prince why in the world would he take a criminal back to their ship when he can just tell you a lie and capture him and say that he is such a great hero. Not to mention she is breaking Westly’s heart. I mean come on don’t be slow!

Zachariah. He is the chef of the Seahawk, the surgeon, and the only black man on the ship. He is about 50 years old, is originally from Africa, can't read, and knows very little about Christianity.  He is also as it turns out the closest ally of Charlotte on the Seahawk. Zachariah gives a dirk to Charlotte for protection and sews a miniature set of sailor clothes for her.  It turns out that he's one of the nicest, if not the nicest, guys on the ships. His bond with the child passenger starts very soon. To all the other passengers, he is very much friendly. To any of the passengers, it might not look like all that, however, he tries.
