A trainload of cars and trucks is in route to an auto dealer for whom you work. Your boss needs to know how many of each before they arrive. The invoice shows a total mass of 182,800 kilograms of vehicles. Each truck is 1,400 kilograms and each card is 1,000 kilograms. How many of each kind are there.

Sagot :

Use Systems of Equations:
x+y=160                                 ---->       1400x+1400y=224,000
1400x+1000y=182,800          ---->       1400x+1000y=182,800
                                                             Subtract the two-----> 400y=41200
Solve for y-----> 400y/400=41200/400---------> y=103
Plug in Y to the first equation then solve for X-----> x+103=160----> x=57

So the answer is 57 trucks and 103 cars
