Photographs do not need to be realistic depending on what they are taking a photograph on, if it’s a view of a sunset or a building it does need to be realistic because it needs to look real. A image like that could not be taken 100 years ago because they wouldn’t be able to edit pictures and it would have color it would be black and white.
