Work algebraically and you must show equation used and the work used to get your answers.
A wooden access ramp is being built to reach a platform that sits 30 inches above the floor.  The ramp drops 2 inches for every 25 inch run.
A) What is the slope?
B) Find the x-intercept of the graph of your equation.
C) Design requirements stipulate that the maximum run can be 30 feet.  Will this ramp meet the requirements?
D) Using a complete sentence, explain the reason that you gave your answer to part (c).

Sagot :

Well, it is [tex]\frac{-2}{25}[/tex]. That is, the equation is [tex]y=\frac{-2}{25}x+30[/tex]. The run could be found when y=0, so [tex]\frac{-2}{25}+30=0[/tex] or [tex]30=\frac{2}{25}x[/tex] or [tex]750=2x[/tex] or [tex]x=375[/tex]. 375 inches. 30 feet means 360 inches, as far as I remember (in my country only metric systems are being used :) ) so it doesn't really work -- the ramp is just a bit too long.
