European countries rampantly colonized countries with an abundance in natural resources but weaker military power in 19th and 20th centuries. African countries were also aggressively colonized by European imperialists in order to get hold of the African resources. European colonizers were brutal in their approach and greatly oppressed the Africans.
Under the imperial rule, African suffered economically as well as culturally. The local industry was demolished by the import abundance.
