m is the slope which is rise/run.
b is the y-intercept or the y variable.
Looking at number 5. where is the red dot on or where does blue line pass on the y axis. It passes on -3 which is going to be our b in the equation of y = mx + b.
y = mx - 3
Now let us find the slope. Starting from -3, do you go up or down. You go down but how many spaces? Remember the blue line must pass on the box on (take an example where the red dot is). So coming back to the equation you will go 1 box down. Now do you go left or right. You go right by how many box? 2 box, so if we put these numbers in the equation of y = mx + b, it would look like this :-
b = -3
m = rise/run = -1/2
y = mx + b
