what is the area of the composite shape?

What Is The Area Of The Composite Shape class=

Sagot :

Answer:

166.5 (nice shot, u got it right in ur lesson :D)

Step-by-step explanation:

for this to be easier then trying to calculate all the shapes at once, we can just split this into two different shapes and add the area of each

lets split it across the middle, so theres a top piece and a bottom piece, to do this we would subtract the shorter (west) side from the larger (east) side, then we will have the height of the lower shape

18 - 11 = 7

so now we have two different shapes, the tope one has the dimensions of 11 by 11 wile the bottom shape has the dimensions of 6.5 by 7, now we calculate the area for each shape...

11 * 11 = 121 (top shape area)

6.5 * 7 = 45.5 (lower shape area)

then add the two area numbers for the grand total

121 + 45.5 = 166.5

this method can be used with multiple irregular shapes like this, and if need be you can break up shapes even further

hope this helps :>

Yeah that’s right 166.5
