In the book “The Giver” Jonas realized that the “Release” of the newborn elders, is actually just killing them. But the worse part of that was when he realized that his father was the one doing the release of the newborns. Jonas was terribly shocked when the Giver showed him a recording of the ceremony that his father was doing behind the scenes. Jonas was very angry that he even started to scream and refused to go back home after what he saw.
