s   =  3.75 - b   (2)

 

Sub  (2) into (1)  and we have

 

4 (3.75 - b)  +  2b  =  10.00      simplify

15 - 4b  + 2b   = 10.00

-2b + 15  =10.00      subtract 15 from both sides

-2b  =  - 5.00         divide both sides by -2

b  = 2.50

s  =  3.75 - 2.50   =   1.50
