How does his mother's accident change Travis?

I was sitting on the couch, mindlessly watching one of my shows when the phone rang. I thought it was going to be my mom, asking whether I'd changed my mind and wanted to go out to dinner with her, but it wasn't.
"Hello, may I speak to Travis Colburn?"
"This is Travis," I said uncertainly.
"Travis, this is Doctor Michael Fraiser at Union Hospital. Your mother has been in an accident. She's stable but in critical—"
The rest of the conversation was a blur. I rushed out of the house and to the hospital, silently vowing to remember what's really important.

c) He is more likely to worry about potential accidents.
d) He is more likely to spend quality time with family.
