If you haven't committed a crime and don't plan too, what is the problem with the police having your DNA information? Easy answer, there shouldn't be one. You would be helping the government solve crimes and your biological information could actually prove your innocence if anything ever happened. I don't think DNA should be considered "private information", the government can pretty much see everything else, why draw the line on something that could help society and yourself? Imagine if the police had everyone's DNA on record and when they found a hair follicle on the scene they ran it through their database and found a match, everytime. It would save a lot of time and get the criminal behind bars much quicker.
