Stanford Case, Chief Justice Taney ruled that all African Americans, whether free or a slave, were not American citizens and could never be American citizens, as well as they were just "property". In addition, by stating this ruling, the Missouri Compromise of 1820 was declared unconstitutional allowing slavery in all country's and territories in the United States.
