Our democracy is not like that of Rome. We have a democratic republic in which citizens vote for their representatives and those representatives then vote on legislation on behalf of their electors. The basic premise of our democracy is that of which the represented majority have power through their elected officials that will represent them fully and not off personal beliefs.
