Why is the Northwest Territory in the 1800's not in what we call the Northwest today?

Sagot :

The reason why it’s called this today is because thr present-day territory came under the authority of the Government of Canada in July 1870, after the Hudson's Bay Company transferred Rupert's Land and the North-Western Territory to the British Crown, which ended up subsequently transferring them to Canada, giving it the name the North-west Territories.
