Courage in the Face of Injustice Research Project

This project is worth 30 points in total. You will be given two class periods to research and two class periods to write.

Objective: You will be choosing a person who has shown courage in the face of injustice in real life and comparing their achievements to those of characters in To Kill a Mockingbird.

Length: Your essay should be at LEAST three paragraphs in length.
*You should have an engaging title, an introductory paragraph that introduces the achievements of the person that you choose to research.
*Your second paragraph should elaborate on that person and use evidence from your two sources.
*Your third paragraph should explain how the achievements of the person that you choose to research compare to those of characters in To Kill a Mockingbird.

Quotes: ALL quotes need to be in MLA format with a parenthetical citation. ALL paraphrasing MUST be cited using a parenthetical citation at the end of your paragraph or sentence in which you are discussing that source.

*You need evidence from AT LEAST TWO sources (print OR online) about your courageous person of your choice.

*You need AT LEAST TWO quotes from To Kill a Mockingbird that show courage in the face of injustice. You may use the same quotes that you chose for DJ #4 if you choose.

Scoring will be as follows:
Evidence- 10 points (2.5 points per quote/ paraphrasing)
Thesis (main idea)- 5 points
Support of thesis (how well you prove your point)- 10 points
Conventions (spelling, grammar, formatting, etc.)- 5 points
