At the end of Juliet's opening soliloquy, she says that she feels “like a child on the night before a holiday, waiting to put on my
fancy new clothes" (3.2.30-31). Although it seems as though Juliet no longer believes herself a child, many of her actions and
thoughts might indicate otherwise. Do you think that Juliet is behaving childishly so
far? In what ways? Why or why not?
