In May 1961, Freedom Rides challenge segregation in interstate transportation in the South. Under the Presidency of Kennedy, Robert Kennedy sent federal marshals to protect the freedom riders. He also advised the Interstate Commerce Commission to end a policy of racial segregation related to African American travelling.
