As shown by the graph, the temperatures in the different layers vary and this is due to the amount of temperature absorbed. The Troposphere absorbs heat from the surface of the planet which is why its closest areas to the ground have temperatures about 0°.

The stratosphere then gets warmer as a result of the Ozone absorbing the more harmful rays of the sun.

The Mesosphere does not absorb much rays and so is colder than the rest.

The Thermosphere is very hot on account of the sun's rays hitting it first thereby forcing it to absorb a huge amount of UV rays.
