you subtract the 2y from the second equation to get x by itself so you can use the rule of substitution.

now distribute your parentheses.
-4y+16-3y=-6
Add your like terms
-7y+16=-6
Subtract the 16 to one side.
-7y=-22
Divide by the -7
y=22/7
