The characters Ra's Al Ghul in Batman and the new Ms. Marvel are similar because they both have good intentions and are of the few depictions of Muslim characters in comics. They differ because one is a hero and the other a villain, among other reasons.

One of the most interesting similarities between the two characters is that they serve as some of the very few depictions of comic characters of Muslim origins. Ra's Al Ghul is the Arabic translation for "Head of the demons". The new Ms. Marvel, known as Kamala Khan, is a Pakistani American Muslim girl from New Jersey.

This provides an interesting real-world-ish similarity between the two, some more comic oriented similarities include:

  • Both fought to live up to family expectations
  • Both have good intentions behind their actions.

Though some similarities can be drawn, the differences between Ra's Al Ghul and Ms. Marvel are much more evident and numerous. These include but are not limited to:

  • One is a hero (Kamala), the other a villain (Ra's)
  • Ms. Marvel pertains to the Marvel universe, whereas Ra's Al Ghul belongs to DC comics.
  • Both have good intentions, but Ra's does not seek to help humans, whereas Ms. Marvel does.

Ms. Marvel and Ra's Al Ghul are both comic characters of Muslim origins, with perceivably good intentions behind what they do, but present many differences in age, gender, abilities, comic universe that they each belong to, and the fact that Ra's al Ghul is a villain meanwhile Ms. Marvel is considered a Superhero.
