Is using traumatic experiences in your college essay inappropriate?

I don't think it would be a good idea to do so- but only bc teachers might see it the wrong way-

Answer: Well it really depends on the experience. Personally if I were a teacher I wouldn't see it as inappropriate because these are things that happened to you so why would it be inappropriate? However, so will get the wrong ideas if you say for example" My dad cussed a lot and tried to murder my family" that would be too dark in their minds and flag it as inappropriate.
