In 150 words, use evidence to compare the ideas of the abolition of the slave trade and the abolition of slavery.

Sagot :

Answer: see below :)

Explanation:

Slave trade

Getting rid of (aka abolishing) the slave trade would stop the inhumane buying, selling, and exchanging of slaves for other goods or money. Individuals in favor of getting rid of the slave trade felt it was a blemish on American society. When individuals would move to America for opportunity, they would see the barbaric selling of people in the city streets. America, known as a land of freedom and democracy, was not truly living up to these words when the slave trade was legal.

Slavery

Getting rid of slavery was an attempt to get rid of the institution of enslaving people and keeping them as property. This is much different than just getting rid of the slave trade, as this would give enslaved people a new legal status in American society. Now, this is not to say that all abolitionists believed that African-Americans should have equal rights. Getting rid of slavery for some people was purely meant on allowing African-Americans to earn money for their labor.
