100pts and Brainliest
For this assignment, you will pretend you are one of those intrepid reporters you see on TV shows such as “What Would You Do?” Pretend you have access to video of the following scenarios, as well as magical access to the massage therapist’s private thoughts. After each scenario plays out, it will be your job to determine if the massage therapist has committed a breach of ethics, and if so, how serious a breach it is. You will then write a summary for each of your assessments and reasons to support your conclusions or judgments. Use the material presented in this lesson, and use the Internet for additional information, as necessary.

Scenario 1:

Anne, a fit, petite massage therapist, does an intake interview for Jim, a morbidly obese client, who is 6 feet, 3 inches, weighing 400 pounds. Anne has strong hands, excellent stamina, and good body mechanics. Jim had to be talked into coming to massage therapy. He is embarrassed about his weight and takes great care in washing and grooming himself before his appointment. Jim is having terrible joint pain, and no doubt his weight is a factor in the pain in his knees and feet. After Anne does the interview, she has Jim change and get on the massage table to work on him. She is personally revolted by overweight people, especially the morbidly obese. She doesn’t like working on Jim and thinks that he is responsible for his own medical problems. At the end of the session, she tells Jim that she doesn’t think she can help him with his pain and recommends another therapist. In fact, she is simply repulsed by the patient and does not wish to have contact with him again.

Did Anne act in an ethical manner by referring Jim to a colleague? Why or why not?
Is she right in thinking that Jim is to blame for his medical problems? Why or why not?
Is she obligated to feel compassion for Jim’s physical condition? Why or why not?
Does she have a right to refuse to treat someone she is physically repulsed by? Why or why not?
If she knew she would have a problem treating Jim, should she have told him she couldn’t treat him at the outset, instead of giving him the first massage? Why or why not?

Answer:

Hope this helps and goodluck.

Explanation:

Yes, if she thinks that someone else may be able to help him better with his pain. She is not a Dr., so she can only do what she can and that is to refer him to another therapist.

No, she isn't right for thinking jim is to blame for his medical problems. Anne does not know him or his history or medicalissues to be able to judge himjust because he is a big man does not mean that is why he is in pain.

No, I don't think she has the right to refuse because itis her job to be a therapist.

Yes, she should had said something sooner because it made it look like that after first session something may had bothered her and she did not want to do it again and jim probably felt as if something was wrong when she refered him to someone else.
