This is the question I was answering:
Where was this text written? Why might that be important?

This text was written from the perspectives of Augustus, Velleius, an emperor's soldier, and Cassius Dio, who was born 150 years after Octavian died. All of these times are important to know because if we only knew Augustus' point of view while he was in power, he could make himself out to be an amazing and powerful emperor, and all we could do would be believe him because we would have no proof to say otherwise, but because we have two other people's points of view, we can see how people felt about him while he was alive and how his story and image changed in people's eyes years after he died.
