I think that everyone had a different capability to learn and some people don't ever really adapt and end up an outcast their whole life. But I believe that it first starts with your parents. If your parents give a good base and give you the basics of how to interact with others then you can adapt and figure out who you want to hang out with. Once you find that out then your friends will influence even more and you either become closer of fade away. Gender roles are always changing. Like all they way back the woman would be the gatherers and house takers while the men had to go out and hunt. For most of human existence it has been like that. I think the change was during one of the world wars. Because all the men went off to war the women had to pick up their jobs. First they were making weapons for them and then when the war was over they stayed in the work force continually gaining more and more freedom to choose. Now today, it is normal for the roles to be completely split like when man of the house can now be the wife while the dad stays at home.
