1. The Supreme Court's final decision was that Executive Privilege did not apply to him keeping these

tapes private and that the Court has rule over the President in this case therefore he must give them the  tapes.

2. The Federal Government then prosecuted Nixon. During the investigation, the government found tape  recorders recording conversations in the Oval Office. Nixon was asked to give up the tapes but he refused.

3. District Court-August 29, 1973 (In re subpoena to Nixon) Judge John Sirica told Nixon that he had to  hand over certain tapes that he believed they discussed the illegal things they had done.

4. The Supreme Court decided that the President was required to turn over tape recordings and other  materials that had been subpoenaed by special prosecutor Leon Jaworski.
