(I'll add a picture to better explain what I am meaning) You imagine see a mini rectange in the corner with a length of 4 and a width of 2. The area for that is 8. But, only half of that imaginary rectangle is in the actual shape so subtract half of that shape (4) from the original 32 and you get 28. The area is 28 units.
