The famous "Letter from Birmingham Jail” written by Martin Luther King Jr recalled his time in prison and also on his views on Civil Disobedience and why he would not obey unjust laws.

He was in prison because he opposed the unjust laws of racial segregation and even in the prison in Birmingham, he saw the prison was divided into places where black and white prisoners served their time.

He was of the opinion that an "unjust law was no law at all..." and should not be obeyed, which was why he was in prison. He was fighting for the end of racism and racial segregation.
