The hypotenuse of a 45°-45°-90° triangle measures 4 inches. What is the length of each leg?

Sagot :

Since two angles are the same the right angled triangle is also isosceles (i.e is having two same sides )
Let those 2 sides be ‘b’

According to Pythagoras ,

(b^2) + (b^2) = (4^2)

2(b^2)=16

divide through by 2

(b^2)=8

b= √8

b= 2 √2 inches

Therefore the other sides have lengths of 2 √2 inches each
