There are four types of water energy and they are:
Thermal power plants: Steam is used in thermal power plants for the generation of electricity. Pressurized water vapour is used for the running of turbines on the power plants which generates electricity.
Geothermal energy: Here, the water is heated from the inside the Earth for the creation of steam. There are times when steam rises naturally to the surface which is harnessed for the generation of electricity.
Hydropower: Electricity is generated by running water falling from a distance on the turbines. Water is stored in the reservoirs which have potential energy and are released from a lower elevation. This energy is used for the generation of electricity.
Tidal energy: Tidal energy is obtained from the tides created in the ocean. Also, tidal energy is one of the renewable sources of energy.
