-Those from the Revolutionary period were similar at times to the Puritans as many writings involved Christianity in some way, as seen with the Declaration of Independence and more prevalently in Phillis Wheatley's writings, but the writings in the Revolutionary period were different in how they followed the Enlightenment values such as Reason along with the belief in Natural Law and Natural Rights instead of things being given simply for someone's piety. The writers in the Revolutionary period mainly focused on political matters and wrote more secularly.
