According to historical facts and records, WPA achieved the construction of over four thousand new schools, one hundred and thirty new hospitals, the construction of about fourteen thousand five hundred kilometers of storm drains and sanitary sewer lines, twenty-nine bridges, one hundred and fifty new airfields, over four hundred and fifty kilometers of new roads, and the planting of twenty-four million trees.
It is clear from the above, that lots of money were injected into the economy. The WPA received bad publicity on the account of inefficient administration.
However, the choice to hire manual labor rather than the use of methods and machines that saved cost was intentional. This was done so that more people could be hired.
