Answer:

At the time, I didn't know that my ex-best friend had a history of being a bad person and a sissy. Her backstory had been revealed to me by some of her old elementary school friends, but I didn't seem to mind at the time. A mutual friend had warned me at the time that she enjoys playing the victim card. That I quickly discovered.

We were at school one day and I walked up to our circle, and she was with her volleyball team. I said my greetings; she wasn't in a good mood from losing her volleyball match the day before (which I didn't know). I attempted to speak with her, but she ignored me, so I attempted again because I genuinely cared about her and wanted to understand why she was sad. She simply insulted me, and we both began arguing until I finally got tired of her and said, “The only reason your team lost was that you were on the team.” I honestly didn't believe what I said was that bad. However, as soon as I looked at her, I saw her heart begin to break and tears begin to form in her eyes. Then she stormed out. After apologizing numerous times, even though she deserved it, she accepted my apology, but I did not want to be friends with her anymore. Everyone knew she needed to be reprimanded, but nobody ever did, and a few people even congratulated me, which I declined because I felt bad. That was four months ago, and she still refuses to be friends. One of my close teachers suggested I cut her off, and I attempted to do so, but she said “I don't exist” and stormed off. We were sort of talking a few days ago, and we cleared things up, but we weren't friends; she explained to me that it was the first time she'd ever been hurt in that way. Even though I felt she overreacted to what I said, I still apologized. I know that things would not have gotten that bad if I had explained my feelings to her and warned her that she would hurt me with her words, but the past is in the rearview mirror.

I hope this helps you
