Think about some of the rules in Jonas's community that we discussed this week.
Ch 4 - no bragging allowed! You aren't supposed to comment on how people are different.
Ch 5 - no feelings of attraction allowed!
Ch 6 - babies are given a name and placed with a family at the Ceremony of Ones. (Think about the whole birthmother & baby situation! There is a lot you could write about here!)
Ch 7 & 8 - everyone is assigned a career at age 12, and you don't get to choose it for yourself.
Ch 9 - no lying or rudeness allowed!
Ch 10 - Jonas has never heard of snow, sleds, or hills... This shows us that the community has control not only over people's lives, but also over the physical environment and climate! Why would they get rid of snow and hills? Hmm...
Pick ONE of them to write about today.
Think about WHY the community made this rule... What were they hoping this rule would do? (Keep people safe? Keep life predictable? etc. etc.)
Now think about the practical impact of this rule. Is this rule helping people in any way? Or is it causing people harm in some way? Think deeply...
