The artist uses the clever interpretation of an active bomb as an islamic mans hijab/ headscarf (i’m sorry i’m not sure the exact name of the garment) . This implies the stereotype that islamic members of society are a threat or are terrorists due to media, literature and theatre representation. Past, extreme events such as the 9/11 attacks being associated with an islamic group have caused this all round negative and highly damaging view on a large majority of innocent people in society. An islamic persons hijab is a part of their belief and identifies their religion upon their appearance so the artist is comparing the instant recognition of an islamic persons hijab to the reason to view this person as dangerous and violent. The art is challenging these views and correcting them. They are unfair and discriminating and this political cartoon addresses this.
