Solution :-

  • Let the breadth of the rectangle be x cm

  • length of the rectangle = ( x + 5 ) cm
  • perimeter of the rectangle= 2( l + b )

  • 2 ( x + x + 5 ) cm
  • 2 ( 2x + 5 ) cm
  • ( 4x + 10 ) cm

Transpose 10 to RHS

  • therefore ,
  • 4x + 10 = 40
  • 4 x = 40 - 10
  • x = 30 / 4 = 67.5

  • Length of the rectangle = x + 5 = 7.5 + 5 = 12.5
  • Breadth of the rectangle = x = 7.5 cm
