EQUIVALENT FRACTIONS
1/4 and 2/8 is equivalent fractions
1/4 and 2/8 has the following equivalent fractions:
3/12, 4/16, and so forth.
After simplifying the numerator and denominators, the equivalent fractions have the same amount or value. If both the numerator and denominator are cancelled by a common factor, the fractions will produce the same value.
To put it another way,
a/b = c/d = e/f
A fraction of 1/4, has the equal of 2/8 because 2/8 is simplified to the same value as 1/4.
What are Equivalent Fractions
- Equivalent fractions are two or more fractions that, after simplification, have the same value. If a/b and c/d are two fractions, the fractions are comparable only if each fraction's simplification yields e/f.
